There's an awesome new article at Web Pro World. It's about Google Bowling… the new form of Google Bombing that allows people to spam their competitors links on a spam website and get their competitors penalized, effectively removing them from Google search.
You have to read the article to really understand it. What matters is the writer called for what I've been talking about all along; an end to Page Rank.
It's clear that Page Rank is not working. Page Rank allows people to sell links on their websites. It allows popular articles to become way more popular than the little known ones. It allows people to "bomb" and "bowl" links. It's a mess, really, and Google needs to get rid of it, and go back to just evaluating websites based on their content. Everyone fell in love with Google search when it worked this way, when relevancy was king, and now that Google relies so heavy on Page Rank, it's nothing but torture for businesses, as they have to look to every new Google update in hopes that their websites won't be removed from Google search entirely for some heinous reason.
If anyone can give a good reason for Page Rank, I would like to hear it. Practically speaking, it's not a good idea. And I knew that from the moment I first heard about it.
