Somebody might not like me

Posted on February 9, 2006.

Just wanted to put this one out there and get your thoughts.

So I'm browsing the web and I happen to come across a comment on an announcement at UnmatchedStyle.com. Basically the owner of Unmatched Style announced that he is selling the website and someone posted a comment with my name. You can read the whole thing at UnmatchedStyle.com.

Now I could assume that there is another person out there with my name, but I'm thinking the probability that there is another person with my name who also reads Unmatched Style and makes stupid comments is very small. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that someone doesn't like me, and thinks it's cool to make a stupid comment pretending to be me. I guess this happens to most people who have been putting their reputation out on the interweb for a while and reaping the benefits (attention: sarcasm) of social interaction. I'm just having a hard time thinking of who would actually dislike me. Here are my guesses:

I guess it would be no suprise to get flamed by any of these people, since it wouldn't be the first time, but at the same time it's all somewhat mind-boggling, since I am really not a mean person at all, and I am always trying to help people on-and-off-line, but that's life.

What do you think?

If I had to guess, I think it was probably the nazis.

Oh yay.. I got some faker being me recently too. That hasn't happened in ages, I thought people had forgotten how to do it. ;)

It really annoys me when people pretend to be someone they're not - I mean what's the point?

    :D

(*Comment not really posted by Christian ;) )

There is no point to anyone with any brain…. case resting as these 'clones' generally have all the brain of a hamster with a crayon stuck up it's nose. I have experienced it - best way is to take it as some absurd compliment.

    @ me? : Stop it! :)

@ karmatosed: You've experienced the hamster with the crayon up its nose? Do tell.

Doesn't Homer have a crayon lodged in his brain because he shoved it up his nose?

Maybe it was the guy from Metafilter to thank you for ripping off their footer section and changing it ever so slightly?

  8. C Montoya on February 10, 2006

I've never even seen Metafilter in my life.

A HA HA HA HA HA.

I just saw Metafilter for the first time. I recommend you all check it out. My site's footer has about as much likeness to it as a dog to a cat. Beware everyone, you too might be ripping Metafilter!

btw Greg you win the moron award of the week. Congrats.

Wow ripping off now constitutes to just having a diff colour for a footer. Well, that makes about 96% of the web a rip off - oh well, if all the kid's are doing it…….
Yes, hamster crayon incidents are at an all time record high over in the UK. Along with hamster in the wheel days, cow people (people with glazed over cow eyes) and what we call locally as 'window licker people'. It is a scary world out there lol.

Is Greg forreal? I mean, does he have any idea how dumb his comment was?? Greg, here's a paper bag, hon. I think you know what to do with it.

@ karmatosed: wow, poor U.K. hamsters. I feel so sorry for them.

    @ Foxy: Zing!
