Comments on a photoblog?

Posted March 12 in Life.

Question: should my photoblog allow comments? Right now comments are just disabled as I haven’t had a chance to style them yet, but I don’t want to waste time styling them if no one is going to actually use them. So it’s up to you, dear reader, to decide. Would you comment on my photoblog? Is there a picture on there now that you actually have a comment for? Do tell. I’m going to get back to work but I’ll be listening.

I didn’t know what to comment. I don’t have a photograph that makes me want to leave a comment. Maybe there will be one in the future. In that case, I suppose I’ll leave a comment on your guestblock. :)

Yeah, even if you did have a comment you’d be the only one ;)

And in that case you could just tell me in person.

I don’t know man, it’s really up to you:

Let me say this: I comment on photoblogs that I visit when it’s available, but the lack of comments does not deter me from going there. In fact, some of my very favourite ones ( http://www.absenter.org/ , http://snowsuit.net/) are commentless, but I check those every single day, without fail.

Yeah, I can dig it. I’ll go high-profile. No talking in the audience, please.

speaking of your photoblog, how is that setup? Through wordpress pages? Thanks!

  8. C Montoya April 5, 2006

ruckerz: It’s simple. I set up a Wordpress blog at a subdomain (photos.christianmontoya.com) so it’s completely seperate from this site. I put together my own template and edited some functions to facilitate the posting of pictures (it’s very rigid) and then I just used the rss-import plugin to show the latest thumbnails here. There’s a lot of PHP trickery involved. It’s all explained in another entry titled “Success: Photoblog Integration.” I’ll be releasing the template for the photoblog eventually, hopefully before May 1st.
