A Single Article
Read it, comment, and share it with your friendsWhat a bright idea
I finally had the bright idea to add a sideblog to this site. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner, but 5 days before the Reboot is what I would call “the nick of time.” You can see the new sideblog in the last section of the sidebar.
This little sideblog will greatly improve my site. I now have a place to post small updates that really don’t belong in the normal blog flow, so small update entries like this one about my new online jukebox won’t be getting in the way of my useful posts. This also means that I won’t feel so hesitant to post small updates about my site, which I tend to keep to myself.
And if you are all about staying informed, these sideblog entries will show up in the RSS feed and will also go out to e-mail subscribers. Talk about a nice plugin. I recommend that anyone who has a similar need for “aside” posts on their blog get the Sideblog plugin. It’s painless to install and extremely easy to customize.

Responses to my articleSo tell me, does the plugin not kick out titles for “posts”? Or is that configurable? I’ve been using an asides category and query_posts to display content where I want it to be displayed. I’m wondering how the content is displayed using the plugin. I noticed your single post under ‘Sideblog’ but no title.
The plugin gives you the option to show titles. It queries the database with the same Wordpress tags used for any other category, so you could even modify the plugin to return dates, number of comments, etc. It’s really a simple plugin that just takes all the work out of asides.
Just wondering - would it be an idea to link the sideblogs to their actual articles (so people can comment on them, instead of just the RSS people)?
The sideblog category is accessible through the Blog Archives section, but I’ll go ahead and add the permalinks now.
Done.
You probably had 101 more important tasks to do, but thanks for actioning this trivial little matter so quickly. More sites need a “you”
