Not goodbye, just “see you later”

Posted June 10 in Life.

This evening (it’s Saturday already as I write this) I leave for Frankfurt, Germany. I will fly from Miami to London and then from London to Frankfurt. I already have my luggage packed and all my paperwork in order. I have an apartment for when I arrive with Internet access. My job starts in a week.

See you later, Miami

It’s not easy to leave home, even though I’ve been doing it a lot lately. This time is a little more complicated though, with going overseas and speaking another language and being 6 hours ahead (7 hours ahead of Foxy, to make things worse). Still, I’ve worked hard for this. It’s what I want.

My mother’s maiden name was German. We were talking about my trip and I jokingly told her “I’m going home.” Even though it was just a joke, I do feel that way. I have ancestry across quite a few countries and I would like to see a little bit of that while I can. Besides, Frankfurt is a nice place. I can’t wait to get back to photoblogging next week. I’m going to take as many pictures as I can.

So one last thing before I head off to get my last night’s sleep here at home: if you are a representative for a cool company in Germany or a neighboring country and you would like to interview a smart rising college senior, contact me while I’m in town and we can set up an interview or just talk over lunch. I’m open to all sorts of ideas; electrical engineering, management, consulting, web development, or even graduate study leading to education. Just please forgive me if my German is a little poor, I’m still practicing. It’s a hard language.

See you on the other side of the pond everybody!

Germany is great. It has tiny tiny little buildings on hills. I’ve never worked out what they are. It also has other cool stuff too.

Hope it all goes well for you… :)

    Hi Christian,

If Doing cutting edge web development in Stockholm sounds like a viable option to you then I guess you could contact me! We’re still looking for CSS gurus at the place where I’ll start working next month as well!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Do you like Stockholm? I won’t be graduating until next year but if you have an opening to start in August or September of 2007 then let me know!

Oh yeah… Stockholm rocks! I can’t wait to leave Holland to go there ;)

I was hoping you were available right now… I didn’t realize you were still studying. But if there’s still (or new) openings available in 2007 I’ll let you know!
