Facebook Notes

I sent this message to Facebook support on July 11, the day I signed up for Facebook:

It would be really cool if we could include RSS headlines from our blog on our Facebook profile. So I would have a list in my profile page with the latest 5 titles from my Wordpress blog. Could this ever be a feature?

Today I logged into my Facebook account and found a new feature: Facebook Notes.

Facebook Notes is a lot like MySpace blogs; it has all the features of a blog, such as photos, comments, and Facebook’s signature people-tagging. What is especially cool about Facebook notes is that you have the option of importing entries from your blog as notes. For example, I designated my new blog (I Have Senioritis) as the one I would like to import into my notes. The posts from that blog appear in my notes as standard notes entries, complete with pictures. Facebook users can comment on these notes, and the comments will appear in Facebook. Comments from my blog are not imported.

This might sound counter-intuitive if I want to direct people towards my blog, but considering that most of my Facebook friends will never visit my blog anyway, it’s a great way to get the content to them. Most importantly, every imported note has a link to the original post on my blog, so I might get a little more traffic that way… and that’s the whole point.
