My first review on Cork'd

Posted on January 31, 2007.

You can read my very first review at Cork'd, which also happens to be the first review of the wine there ever. I tasted "Toasted Head 2005 Chardonnay" today and writing the review at Cork'd was almost as fun as tasting the wine itself. It's very cool that there are sites like this that I can use while learning about Wines, and to give a dash of advice to all the aspiring web developers out there reading this blog, it is this: build communities. Not for the sake of having AJAX or getting ad space, but to provide a place where people can enjoy something together. Cork'd is a perfect example of a site that isn't about being "innovative" or "ground breaking," just fun to use. And I promise this is the last time I'll blog about wine!

My brother thinks this is a good idea too! If you ever want to check out a different wine logging site just to see what's out there, he and his colleagues created:

    http://logabottle.com/home/index.php

    Enjoy your beverages!

Just thought I'd mention another wine rating site started by Cornell alums:

    http://thewinebee.com/Default.aspx

I've never really used it myself, but the design is very facebook-ish.

Wow, I didn't know there were so many wine sites out there… I'll have to stick with Cork'd though, it has the best design and it's very geek-friendly (which is me-friendly). Thanks for stopping by you two!
