In perspective: pre-9rules

Posted on March 25, 2007.

I was visiting my old LiveJournal the other day so that I could copy the background image for my Twitter profile when I found an old entry that I wrote back on November 23, 2005… right after I first launched this here website and right after I was rejected from 9rules. This is what I wrote:

I know I said I was closing this, but I have something to say and I want to say it here. So all these blogs are making it into 9rules. And why? Because all those blogs are established and they all have topics… and mine kind of doesn't. I haven't been around long enough and I'm still thinking of what to blog. Problem is, I really don't do anything. I mean nothing. I just go to class and study and then I do all this cool web design stuff that nobody cares about. And sometimes I sleep. If I had the time I would blog photos and cooking and videogames and stuff. I just don't have the time at all. Pshaw. Well it would be nice if 9rules would accept Liquid Designs since I think that is a valuable blog but there's a chance that might even be passed up. Point is I need something worthwhile to blog about. And I don't know what.

It was the following year in June that I was accepted into 9rules… and that's all I have to say about that.

I'm struggling like mad to find a) the time to blog and b) the subject matter lately.

I feel terrible about it, and I don't know how to feel about the fact that my target audience hasn't dropped a smidge since I've been blogging less frequently.

9rules has certainly been wonderful to/for me, but I wonder what my blog would've been like had I never been invited in.

Somewhere between writing this and getting accepted into 9rules, I decided that I didn't need 9rules to be successful. Still, even though being in 9rules hasn't made me any more successful in itself, it's the people that I have met and learned from in the network that have taught me a lot and made me a better blogger (and person).

I'm fortunate that I'm getting into the industry I blog about, so I'm not going to be losing steam any time soon; in your case, I don't have any advice, but there are those ups and downs… maybe you'll come back in due time with a whole lot of inspiration and motivation. It has happened to me.

Ehh, I don't really have much to blog about either. I just mainly post about my life or cute things I buy haha
