My fresh Virb profile

Posted on April 14.

When Marco invited me to join Virb a while back (through a friend), he had one stipulation: that I do some serious design work with my profile once I was in. At the time I was far too busy with some other projects, so I just put something simple together to keep everyone happy. Still, Marco knew I was capable of much more and he encouraged me to put some serious effort into it. Well, on Thursday I had a little free time and I came up with an idea for the profile, which I decided to run with. I spent Thursday night and much of the day yesterday working with a combination of the GIMP, Inkscape, and Firefox to pull everything together, and I surprised myself with how much I accomplished in short time. Have a look at what I came up with:

There's more below that in the full profile, which you should definitely check out. After you are done looking, come back and let me know what you think.

Not to be mean or anything but I busted up laughing when I saw that pic ;) Reminds me of Molly Shannon in her SUPERSTAR skits where the girl puts her hand in her armpits and then smells them immediately afterwards ;)

    It's my ghetto-fabulous pose! I know it's ridiculous and I think that's why I do it :D

It's nice when everthing comes together like that.

The header could do with some more work. I was thinking that it would look cool to have have the top of the border curve around your pic and the bubble, or something.

The comments look very cool :)

mahud: That would be cool but maybe too hard to do…

I love shiny patterns too — we have to be friends!

Nice work on the profile. I agree with mahud; the comments look great.

Ok been looking at virb and thinking about it for a while now…

and I have just one question. What is the point in having an account? Is it just for socialising or is it trying to jump on the myspace bandwagon.

No doubt it looks great and has many more benefits but I dont see the point in an account.

sorry if I spoilt your party ;)

Jermayn: I use it for finding new music and socializing. There are some great musicians and bands on Virb right now and it's getting better everyday. Unless you hate music, you will probably find it very useful.

I'll be writing about this soon since you aren't the first person to ask that question.

Montoya: Thanks for that and I look forward to your post.
