Presenting the all new, totally different foxymcloud.com

foxymcloud.com 08-2007

This, friends, is the new design for foxymcloud.com, now titled "a foxymcloud Wedding." Why is everything so spanking-new? Let me explain: a few months ago, my fiancée (who is the author at foxymcloud.com, if you did not know) started thinking that she lost interest in her blog and wanted to shut it down. I knew that she has a lot of potential as a blogger and I didn't want to see her do that, so I encouraged her to take the blog in a new direction. I told her something along the lines of, "your current blog is a like a diary. That's a waste. No one is going to read that. You need to write about a topic that people will be interested in, and more importantly, that you will feel motivated to write about." She took what I said and came up with a great idea: with our wedding date (possibly) less than a year away, and with much of the planning (actually, all) still left to do, she decided to write about her wedding-planning. I don't know if anyone has ever blogged such an experience before, but if you think you might be interested in reading about a bride-to-be's experience and possibly suggesting wedding ideas that are affordable and totally cool, make sure to add this one to your favorites.

Now, for the whole design aspect: I built this site from scratch on Wordpress. I didn't use any code from any previous designs I had done for the site, but I did use Blueprint CSS to get the ball rolling. All the images, as well as the site design, came from graphics I purchased on iStockphoto… what a great resource for artistically-challenged developers like me. The only thing left to do is to make the text a bit bigger, which I will get around to… soon.

I welcome any comments on the design of the site. Enjoy!

btw what I really like are the graphics and how the RSS feeder link is a part of the design. Using that same concept with a new design of mine :)

Yeah I bought the graphics from a very talented artist on iStockPhoto and I couldn't be happier with them… and the cake idea was entirely my fiancee's, but the RSS button was my added touch :)
