I couldn't resist the opportunity to win a Wii from Circuit City (they are giving one away every day until the 22nd), but when I got to this form, I swear I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to type in:
I mean, I guessed it might be my e-mail, but I was honestly stumped. I had to hit the submit button to see the error message, which said "you did not enter a valid e-mail address," to figure out what to do.
Why anyone would ever design a form without thinking of telling people what to put in the little box is beyond me. A form this simple demands just as much explanation as those 10 page forms the government websites put you through. Now, I'm gonna get back to winning my Wii, but I hope this example explains my point.
Sorry, comments for this entry are closed at this time.
Heh heh heh… sometimes the most obvious mistakes go hidden to their creators while manifesting themselves to all users.
With any luck there won't be many entrants and you will win!
I guess they have updated the form on the website, as it states inside the text field "Plese enter your email". Something that helps a bit, but I dont think that it would have hurt them much to have that static on the form either. Anyhow, thanks for letting me know, now I'm trying to win a Wii as well
I decided to read your entry and that entry form as if I was a noob (because I totally am.) The first thing I thought of typing in the box was "Yes." I wonder how many people made that error before realizing they needed to type in their email address instead.
I would have put a 3, as if that were the correct answer, assuming it would take me on to the next page where I could enter my details.
Usability, what's that?
Ha, I entered my email address, then left the box and clicked on the email address input box again and it erased what I had put in there.
Or maybe enter
hahahaha thats plain silly but so funny!!!
