I have been required to comply with Facebook’s trademark on the FACEBOOK domain by moving my Facebook App Reviews site to a new domain that does not contain “facebook” at all. So, the new domain for my site is:
http://apprevie.ws
Isn’t that cool? I was checking for domains with AJAX Whois and this domain was suggested as a “domain hack.” I wish I had thought of it myself.
Aside from moving to this new domain, I have to add a disclaimer to my site and turn over the old domain (facebookappreviews.com) to Facebook, Inc. That’s how these things go. I don’t really like the idea of turning over this domain, since it did cost me $10, but I don’t think there is anything I can do about it.
I just hope that Facebook defends their trademark with all unofficial Facebook sites, such as allfacebook.com and bestfacebookapplications.com.
So, um, yes, this would be me getting “owned” by Facebook. Heh.

I never saw the point in that kind of over the top trademark “protection”. It’s not like you’re pretending to be Facebook. Oh well, better to comply than end up in all sorts of legal difficulty.
kxj: I swear, they are NOT worth $15 billion. And no, I doubt I can get my money, but I’m sure it’s OK in the end since I make more than that off of app development
