This is cool: Use a flash card as your boot drive

For $12 you can buy an IDE or SATA converter that allows you to use a CompactFlash card as a boot drive… imagine how fast that would be! If I had the money to build computers as a hobby these days, I would buy one, but instead I'll have to live vicariously through my readers… let me know if you do something like this :)

    Combine that and some cheap micro and you have quite the deal. That's actually more memory than my EEE.

    Not quite. These adapters support CF cards, not SD. CF cards are physically larger, and they might have faster read/write speeds, since they have a wider edge.
