I was given the opportunity to review Chop Chop Ninja, a new game from Gamerizon, and I enjoyed it muchly. I have to admit that when I heard that the game would be a 2d frantic platformer, my expectations were not very high. When I saw the first gameplay video, however, I realized that the smart folks at Gamerizon used a clever approach to a genre that has typically been poorly implemented in the past. Most 2d games try to recreate classic paradigms by filling the screen with virtual buttons that represent directions, jumping, etc. Chop Chop doesn't bother with all that nonsense. In Chop Chop, you simply tap and hold in a direction to run, tap in the air to jump, and tap enemies to attack. It might sound too simplistic, but the level design and the persistently hyperactive enemies make this game a worthwhile challenge for any "pro" iGamer.
As of this writing I have played a third of the way through the game, and was pleasantly surprised to find classic features that every platformer should have: powerups, secret treasures, and tough boss battles. The art and sound are solid, and the story telling, while sparse, will make you laugh. If you aren't completely sold on this game, try the lite version to get a feel for it. I think you will find that the gameplay itself is enjoyable enough. There are a few issues you might run into; wall jumps can be a bit frustrating, and when a lot of enemies are attacking, it can be hard to control your character. There was also one case where enemies trapped me underneath a box. These issues are few and far between, however, and don't detract from the game at all. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys action, adventure, platformers or beat-em-ups, and if I had to give it a rating, I'd say 5/5!
